Wood Sage - Teucrium scorodonia
Short to medium hairy plant. Stems erect, branched. Leaves oval to heart shaped, stalked. Flowers pale greenish yellow, stamens protruding with maroon anthers in leafless spikes.
Woodland and heathland on acid soils
Late June to September.
Perennial
Widespread and quite common throughout Britain.
Fairly frequent, but rather local in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 64 of the 617 tetrads.
In the current Checklist (Jeeves 2011) it is listed as locally frequent; largely confined to Charnwood Forest area
