Wood Meadow-grass - Poa nemoralis
A loosely tufted plant, without rhizomes. 15 to 90 cm tall. The culm has between 3 and 5 nodes. Sheaths smooth. Leaves 5 to 12 cm long, 1 to 3 mm wide; mid-green in colour. Ligules truncate and up to 0.5mm long.
This species has a red ID rating and unless identified by a known expert you must provide a satisfactory explanation of how it was identified for the record to be accepted.
Deciduous woodland.
In flower during June and July.
Perennial.
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
Fairly frequent in woodland in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 106 of the 617 tetrads.
