Tephritis matricariae
5mm. Brown-bodied with highly patterned wings. The female oviscape is hairy at the base and has dull red patches on the sides. A gall-forming fruitfly in the flowerheads of plants in the Asteraceae family, particularly Crepis.
Other Tephritis species. Can be separated by careful examination of the wing pattern.

All year (overwinters in evergreen vegetation).
Uncommon.
Rare or under-recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
