Golden Spindles - Clavulinopsis fusiformis

Description

A dense cluster of upright bright-yellow spindles emerging from an underground base.  The spindles are unbranched and tapering at each end.  The tips become brownish with age.  Spindles are often compressed and grooved longitudinally.    The spores are smooth and almost spherical.
