Fuscidea cyathoides

Description

A crustose lichen which is mousy brown, though paler and greenish in the shade. It has a black prothallus which is often visible between cracks in the thallus. Apothecia are black or dark brown with paler margins.

Habitat

On shaded rocks, usually in areas with regular rainfall.

UK Status

Common and widespread in the north and west of Britain, uncommon to the east.
