Description
A hard woody 'lump' gall of varying shape, but often rather cone shaped and 3 or 4 cm in height. The growth sometimes appears to be directly attached to the twig or branch.

Habitat
Found on many Salix species (Willows) and particularly prominent in the winter months.
When to see it
All year round.
UK Status
Believed to be fairly frequent in Britain, but poorly recorded.
VC55 Status
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
