Agrotera nemoralis
Wingspan 20 to 24 mm. An attractive and distinctive moth.
Associated with Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) and a few other deciduous trees, but usually encountered as a migrant in Britain.
May to July.
The larvae feed on Hornbeam, Birch, Hazel and Chestnut leaves.
Perhaps restricted to one Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) wood in Kent. Other finds probably represent immigrants. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as Red Data Book 1.
Rare in Leicestershire and Rutland. The Sapcote specimen of 1st June 2018 is the first record since the publication of the Victorian County History in 1907 which contained an unconfirmed record.
