Description
Wingspan about 40 mm. Quite a variable species markings varying from a straw brown to more rufous shades.

This is a rare moth in our area; records must be supported with a good close-up photograph and seek confirmation from the CMR prior to release.
Habitat
Usually encountered as a migrant in Britain

May to September.
Life History
The larvae feed on a variety of herbaceous plants.
UK Status
An uncommon migrant to Britain.
VC55 Status
Rare in Leicestershire and Rutland. The Barrowden record of 30th May 2026 is the first for VC55 following an unprecedented arrival into the UK.
