Anthomyia imbrida
Anthomyia imbrida
One of four boldly-marked flies in this family - grey with black spots on the thorax. A. imbrida has slightly different-shaped markings on the thorax - an indentation on the hind lateral black spot - which distinguishes it from the other species. It also has more numerous (typically 9-15) anterodorsal setae on the hind tibiae and hairs on the arista are only as long as the basal diameter of the arista (these hairs are slightly longer in A. procellaris and A. bazini)
Other Anthomyia species.
A clear photo of the spot pattern on the side of the thorax and ideally the setae on the hind tibia.
Adults can be found sunning on fences.
Larvae are associated with bird nests.
Fairly common but under-recorded.
Rare or under-recorded.
